Rewards for my commentators
October 7th, 2007
I want to reward my commentators in order to thanks them for leaving their comments on my posts, so I’ve added some plugins.
One of them is Top Commentators. You can see this top on my sidebar. This plugin displays the commentators names (linked to their website if desired) and number of comments they have made recently. The links to commenter site are dofollow.
Another plugin that I’ve installed is one called CommentLuv. It displays for every commenter the last entry in his blog. This link is also dofollow. In some cases, it may not show a link to the commenters last post because there was a timeout on parsing their feed. I have increased this timeout, but still…
And finally, if you don’t now yet, my comments has dofollow attribute.
Well, isn’t it that from know on you will make more comments?
I know that my blog is still very young, but one day (not so far) it will grow up and all this do follow attribute will count
You can be sure of that

Your “Top Commentators” Widget is really low on your page. It means that not a lot of people will see it therefor it’s not as exciting for the commentators. Generally you would want to have it higher on your page so more people see it giving more exposure to people that comment.

Hi Adam, thanks for your visit and comments. I think you are right, I never thought about that until now. I move this widget to a higher place. Take a look! It’s better now?
Ya a lot better. It’ll get a lot more clicks now.
It’s called being above “the fold”. The most important stuff you want the user to see without having to scroll down. For example generally you want your feed subscriptions, nav links, etc… above the fold so the user can access them without having to scroll..

Alex’s last blog post..Love Your Commentors And Be Rewarded
Hi Alex, thanks for visiting. The rewards is yours
I like your post, I might install Brian’s plugin, I find it pretty usefull.
Its a nice concept, but it also leads to increased ’spam’ with comments like ‘Good Job’ or ‘Nice blog’ that are not actually relevant to the post, but are just there because the poster saw a ‘DoFollow’ badge on the blog and wanted a backlink.
I suppose you could call this a double edged sword, it’d definitely get your more comments, but also increase your moderation work.

Yes, it could increase short comments like these, but since I’ve implemented this, I think I haven’t such posts more than 5.
hey I saw on your sidebar a link to link referal. I used to use them to but I just found out that it’s bad for your SEO. Google doesn’t like it for somereason. I just thought I should let you know.

I made my site folowable too. I can always delete spam but at least following a blogger’s link through comment is a nice way of putting things in perspective.
Great article. Nice blog. Keep it coming. Mike
