My blogging goals for 2008

It’s time to establish my blogging goals for 2008. It’s a little late, indeed, but better late than never :)
I write this post either for you, to let you know what I intend to do this year and for me, not to forget what I want to do this year :)

Basically, I’d like to make more friends, to write better content and to monetize this blog a little better than now. So, what would I do for this?

1. I’ll try to post on a regular basis. Not every day and not 2-3 posts per day. This will annoy my readers and will affect my quality of posts. So I’ll try to write a quality post every 2-3 days.

2. I’ll start guest posting. I receive a few invitations until now to post as guest in other blogs and this year I want to do it. I think it is an interesting experience to receive feedback for my posts from other blog’s readers. Not to mention that I can receive more traffic :)

3. I want to make more friends and to develop my communities. I’ll work hard on this because I’ve seen the benefits. So I’ll start to comment more on other blogs. And I’ll continue to develop my communities on StumbleUpon, BlogCatalog and other. For beginning, if you want to be my friend in these communities, you can find me here: StumbleUpon and BlogCatalog

4. I want to increase my PageRank. This will help me to get more paid reviews. But if I write more paid reviews, Google will decrease my PageRank. Hmmm! Maybe if I write more non-paid reviews then paid reviews, Google will let me alone. I’ll se with that…

5. I want to write at least an e-book. Oh, I really like this idea! This will involve a lot of research and work because I want to write a good e-book and not a junk.

For short, these are my blogging goals. There are not many, but big and involves a lot of work.

Thank you all for being with me on 2007 and I hope I could count on you in 2008 either.

Have you establish until now some goals for 2008?

I wish you to fulfill all your goals this year! Maybe you’d want to give a second thought to paid reviews - I’ve experienced it myself: going for PR 5 to PR 0 is quite painful, especially that I worked a lot to get that PR 5. Maybe the best option is to set some secondary blogs for the paid reviews, and keep your main blog clean from Google’s point of view.

If you want to guest post, my blog is opened to you, so please feel free to do it! If you want, I can do the same for you. I believe I’m lucky I discovered you online. Maybe we could also meet offline this year, since we are sharing this crowded city (wouldn’t it be a surprise to discover that we live in the same neighbourhood? Maybe we do).

Thanks! I wish the same to you!
I’ve been accepted to PPP about 2 weeks ago, for example, but I didn’t write anything yet, just because of this PR matter. I saw that in many paid programs the advice is to remove all “this is a paid review” tags, just for Google not to decrease the PR. But this is something I don’t want to do. I think my readers deserve to know when a post is paid or not. That’s way all my paid posts have that label. But that’s why I didn’t write to many paid reviews. Though, I want some money, so I must to do something :)

We are both lucky to discover each other :) Maybe we will try a cross-guest posting and yes, I definitely want to meet you offline :) Maybe you live across the street and we know each other

I had written less than 10 reviews when I kissed my PR good bye, so I don’t think numbers matter too much here.
I agree with you, I am for cleary labeling sponsored posts, but I stopped writing them on the main blog one month ago (except for yesterday, when I wrote another one). I am seriously thinking to delete the blog from PPP and to stop the TLA things I have on running, then to write Google, maybe they’ll give me back some PR. On the other hand, I’m tempted to say nothing and just wait. Maybe we will have a nice case study to comment.

If you live on Drumul Taberei, we might be close neighbours. Anyway, we can always meet in the center, but only after the snow goes away (I’m afraid to move my car these days, it’s horrible)

When you kissed your PR good bye  you have paid reviews on your main page (home)?

Oh yes, we are close neighbors  I’ve told you that you are across the street :)

Ha, ha! I suppose I had at least three paid reviews on the home page :) I took my PPP job very seriously.

Nice to hear you are so close to here. How would it be to discover that we actually live in the same block?

Hi, I have just written a similar article to this one, with the ideas coming mainly from you :) I would actually recommend setting more firm goals - something you can work towards. For example, you could say ‘I want my blog to have lots of visitors’ or you could say ‘I want to have 1000 subscribers before the end of the year’ and you can even break it down further - per month, per week, per day? I have also just written a new too if you want to check it out. Anyway keep it up.

@Simonne: I think if you hadn’t any PPP on the first page when Google recalculated PR, maybe it doesn’t decrease your PR. Just my 2 cents.
I don’t think we are living in the same block, it’s just too weird

@Grace: Thanks! And good luck with your goals, too. It seems that you need also 25 hours a day :)

@Jacob: Oh yes, I recognize the first 3 goals :) I don’t want to establish a specific number of subscribers as one of my goals. People subscribe and unsubscribe often. And the number of subscribers is the result of the posts quality. So my goal is to write quality content. This way more people will subscribe to my RSS. Of course I want thousands of subscribers, but I cannot establish a specific number, as I said before. But these days I’ll put in practice some tips for increasing the subscribers, and after I see what happens, I’ll write a post to let you know :)

I just realised I stuffed up the link in post number 7… It was meant to say “I have also just written a new blog goal and achievement list too if you”…
Anyway, I didn’t mean your goal had to be a subscriber count goal, that was just an example. I was just suggesting you could have more ‘to the point’ goals if you know what I mean.
2.5 subscribers a day is a big call but you do get spike days so hopefully it will give me some sort of headway.

@nimrodjo: Thanks for your invitation. I’ll try my best :)

@Jacob: Besides this blog, I have so many other things to do, that a day is very short for me. Even if my number of goals is small, I’ll be happy to achieve them. I prefer to achieve a small number of goals than not achieve a large number of goals
