Did I miss something?

January 28th, 2008

I think I must make a new category with rhetorical questions.

I’ve submitted my blog to Blog Explosion for about 4 months ago. I understood that there were some changes and the new team has to review a large amount of blogs submitted. But I didn’t expect, not for a minute, that my blog will be declined. And the reason?

Sorry your blog has been declined at BlogExplosion as we are no longer accepting blogs that primarily contain advertising, or promote business opportunities.

Did I miss something? If I search deeper in my blog, I have 7 paid posts out of 105 posts and a few affiliate links on my sidebar.

Another one:

Three months ago, someone has reviewed my blog on LinkRefferal. He said:

This was an okay Blogger. I like the name you have, and also that you made your own header graphic for it. Do you work for blogger? I got the sense that your blog was about advertising for them, as opposed to your “personal” blog. Why do you want traffic to your personal blog? other than your personal friends and what not? what is there on your blog (other than ads and promotion of blogger) that would want someone to come back to read? whats the theme? Just a question I had. Good luck with your blogger..

He didn’t even bother to read more carefully my blog to see that I refer to blogger as a person who writes on a blog. And until this review, I didn’t even hear about Blogger.com

I hate when someone superficially misjudges my work!

Has something like that happened to you? What did you feel about that?

Wow, that’s ridiculous. Your blog hardly contains any advertising at all, so I don’t see how they can say it’s centered around that. And as for the person who didn’t know what a blogger was or the context the word is used in, as well as why someone would want traffic to their blog… That’s even more ridiculous.

Both of the situations was ridiculous, but at that time I was really upset. What can I say? Sometime I’m like a volcanic bomb

Well, looking back, it’s funny, indeed. And regarding the linkreferral guy, first I thought that he has reviewed another blog but has placed his review for my blog. But no, he has confirmed on an email, very upset that I advertise for Blogger

You’re still getting good traffic from EntreCard, so who cares what those “reviewers” think!

Wait a sec… BlogExplosion as in BlogExplosion.Net? If yes, Elliot owns that site. He is ejcross in BloggingZoom. You might want to email him personally. He is a nice and helpful guy, and right now he is helping out Vic in local niche site group which I am also a part of.

If no, then their decision doesn’t make any sense. I don’t see any ads here. The only monetization widget I see is Amazon affiliate and Reviews.

Oh btw, how’s the paid review going?

No, as in BlogExplosion.com.

Well, I’ve decided not to write paid posts anymore. I don’t want to annoy you with them. I think you, my readers, are more important than some bucks. I will find another way to earn some money.

I wouldn’t even bother with blogexplosion. People who use it tend to look at each blog for the 15 seconds waiting for the on-screen stopwatch to count down, then onto another blog – all for points. I know what you mean, when I use the word ‘blogger’ I’m talking about a person who blogs. When I refer to someone using the ‘blogger’ format, I use the term, ‘blogspot blog’.

I want to make money, but I’ve yet to find a way I feel right about. To make money for example, like Court Tuttle…it’s a full time job. His method is smart but not for me. He is really just “gaming the system”…combined with the fact that he teaches what he’s accomplished, like creating a #1 landing page. I will not go that route because I believe too many people are going the same route…creating a billion unsuccessful sheep…following the leader.

You have a great blog and those responses you received from blogexplosion and linkreferral are rude! I think viral marketing can deliver traffic, though it’s not focused traffic…it’s traffic none the less!

Well, I think I’ll not be mad anymore. Because I have you, all my readers and all my friends.
I agree with you about making money blogs, but Simonne and I have just launched ours  and we’ll take a shot with it.
Thanks for your appreciation about my blog. I like your blog too, you now, even if I need a dictionary when I read your posts

Yes, it’s annoying, indeed. That’s why I try to read very careful all the posts, not to leave some foolish comments. Thanks for dropping by.

Mine’s been in their waiting list forever. I just updated and re-submitted, so we’ll see. I found some good bloggers through BE way back when (I had a different blog then), but I’ve heard it’s not the same now.

As far as people misjudging me, it doesn’t happen that much, but when it does . . . their loss. It can be irritating though!

I’ve submitted my blog 4 months ago. 1 month ago I’ve received an email, saying that the team was changed and to access my account, so they can see that I’m active and to review my blog. I had 2-3 days after that about 50 visits from BE. And in all these 50 visits, they have decided that my blog is full of advertising. Well, everyone has the right to an opinion.

Things like that really get me annoyed. For example I found a website that had just copied my website straight out, even my own photo was still there, they had just changed the name to Boys and Girls and some of the link pages. Quite hilarious, I didn’t even bother about it.

Oh yes, what happens to you is even more annoying. I have found a blog, too, with some of my articles published entirely.
