Blogs about blogging I like most

I’ve started My lucky number 13 four month ago as a personal blog. That time I didn’t know too much what involves a blogging activity and what skills I must have. I just thought that I’ll start the blog and I’ll learn on the way. I’ve write some posts, but I wasn’t satisfied neither about my articles content or the style I’ve used to write them. I had the feeling that something is missing. So I’ve started to read a lot of other blogs, especially blogging related, to figure out what did I do wrong.

If you take a look at my Categories, you will see that the Blogging category is more populated than the others. That’s because I begin to like to write about blogging and everything related and I think I’ll focuse on these kind of articles. Even my articles are still inexpertly (at least that’s how I see them) I think that some practice and perseverance will help me. I know that there are many (too many) articles blogging related, but I still discover that there are many unknown and obscure things for many bloggers, so I think if I understand them, why not to share with my readers?

I want to mention some blogs/bloggers from where I’ve learned a lot about blogging and, in my opinion, those blogs should be considered the ABC of blogging for every person who starts a blog.

1. Skelliewag.org written by Skellie, is by far the blog from where I’ve learned from every single post. It’s a blog about creating better content. It’s 100% ad and affiliate free and I can add that it is “paid review” free. Skellie’s articles are easy to understand since she includes examples as well. In that blog even the comments are like little posts and a newbie can learn a lot from the comments, too. You can find her best articles (though I think all her articles are great) in the best of Skelliewag in 2007. Skellie also write as guest for other blogs, like ProBlogger and Daily Blog Tips.

2. Problogger is written mostly by Darren Rowse, but you will find a lot of great guest posts too. There are a lot of tips about blogging, making money online, search engine optimization, writing and much more. The articles are easy to read and understand. One month ago I’ve found out that he runs another blog, too, Digital Photography School, another great blog with a lot of valuable posts. I just wonder: does he ever sleep?

3. Daily Blog Tips are written by a team, but I like especially Daniel Scocco’s posts. He writes a lot of blogging tips, resources and links to make your blog better. If you are new to blogging (and even if you aren’t), you will find here a lot of answers to your questions. It really worth to read this blog.

4. DoshDosh written by Maki (who I’ve just read in his About page that he is a guy and not a girl – sorry Maki, I was fooled by your anime girls from your blog  ) is a blog about professional blogging and making money online. There are very interesting articles, very well written and containing a lot of resources, including links to other articles or to forums discussions. Most of the articles are very long, so you must to have some patient to read them entirely.

5. JohnTP is written by JohnTP, of course, who was born on a 13 day. Lucky man! I’ve found his blog recently, but I’ve learned a lot from his articles. The blog is about blogging and making money online, but you will find also articles about SEO, tutorials, and much more. You will find many useful tips to improve your blog, so check it out.

There are also other great blogs about blogging I’ve read, but from several days I’m stuck on these five

Please leave a comment and share with me/us which blog do you read most. It doesn’t necessarily to be a blogging blog. I think that if we share each other our favorite’s blogs, we can build a huge resource with worth reading blogs. This is the best thing about blogging, except making friends, that many bloggers writes about what they know best and a huge amount of knowledge are floating through the internet, just waiting for us to discover

What blogs do you like more? From which blog you consider you have learned a lot?

Improve your RSS feed

Improve your RSS feed

You may ask: what in the Earth could I improve more to my RSS feed? Well, there is a way to make some improvements, by adding a footer to your RSS feed. I saw that many bloggers don’t take advantage from this valuable space, though you can use it in so many ways. So, what can you do with this footer?

  1. You can monetize your RSS feed, by adding in footer ads, banners, referral links and other.
  2. You can add copyright information for preventing content stealing.
  3. You can add some information about you and your blog to increase your credibility.
  4. You can add some special bonuses for your subscribers (this way you can boost your subscribers).
  5. You can add a list of related articles from your blog.

Adding a footer to your RSS feed is as easy as pie. You can use one of the following seven plugins listed below:

1. Simple Feed Copyright – add a simple copyright notice to full text wordpress feeds.

2. Add Related Posts to Your Feed – adds a list of Related Posts to your full text feed. You’ll need either UTW or w-a-s-a-b-i Related Posts plugin installed and activated.

3. RSS Signature – allow the addition of a custom tagline, signature or © copyright message to the wordpress generated rss feeds. You can add any kind of message, tag, or even images — as long as it can be displayed in an RSS feed.

4. Better Feed – allows you to enhance your feeds with several highly customizable features, like a copyright notice, a list of related posts, “Next page” links, “Read more” links, a “Add to del.icio.us” link and more.

5. ©Feed – adds A report of copyright, a digital fingerprint and the IP of the feed reader. The feed can be also be supplemented with comments and topic-relevant contributions. It is possible to view related post using the plugin “Simple Tagging” or “simple Tags”.

6. Feed Footer WordPress Plugin – adds footers under all your blog posts in your RSS feed. With this nifty plugin, you can copyright your feed, monetize your RSS feed, add banners and images, add any HTML code.

7. Angsuman’s Feed Copyrighter Plugin – adds a copyright message to your feed items.

If you are using FeedBurner, you can also use FeedFlare for adding a footer to your feed. FeedFlares are files in .xml format. You can easy create a FeedFlare following the FeedFlare Developer Guide.

Well, you can subscribe now to my full RSS feed to see the way I’ve chose to take advantage from my RSS feed footer.

How would you use your RSS feed footer?

My blogging goals for 2008

My blogging goals for 2008

It’s time to establish my blogging goals for 2008. It’s a little late, indeed, but better late than never :)
I write this post either for you, to let you know what I intend to do this year and for me, not to forget what I want to do this year :)

Basically, I’d like to make more friends, to write better content and to monetize this blog a little better than now. So, what would I do for this?

1. I’ll try to post on a regular basis. Not every day and not 2-3 posts per day. This will annoy my readers and will affect my quality of posts. So I’ll try to write a quality post every 2-3 days.

2. I’ll start guest posting. I receive a few invitations until now to post as guest in other blogs and this year I want to do it. I think it is an interesting experience to receive feedback for my posts from other blog’s readers. Not to mention that I can receive more traffic :)

3. I want to make more friends and to develop my communities. I’ll work hard on this because I’ve seen the benefits. So I’ll start to comment more on other blogs. And I’ll continue to develop my communities on StumbleUpon, BlogCatalog and other. For beginning, if you want to be my friend in these communities, you can find me here: StumbleUpon and BlogCatalog

4. I want to increase my PageRank. This will help me to get more paid reviews. But if I write more paid reviews, Google will decrease my PageRank. Hmmm! Maybe if I write more non-paid reviews then paid reviews, Google will let me alone. I’ll se with that…

5. I want to write at least an e-book. Oh, I really like this idea! This will involve a lot of research and work because I want to write a good e-book and not a junk.

For short, these are my blogging goals. There are not many, but big and involves a lot of work.

Thank you all for being with me on 2007 and I hope I could count on you in 2008 either.

Have you establish until now some goals for 2008?
