Blogs about blogging I like most
January 10th, 2008
I’ve started My lucky number 13 four month ago as a personal blog. That time I didn’t know too much what involves a blogging activity and what skills I must have. I just thought that I’ll start the blog and I’ll learn on the way. I’ve write some posts, but I wasn’t satisfied neither about my articles content or the style I’ve used to write them. I had the feeling that something is missing. So I’ve started to read a lot of other blogs, especially blogging related, to figure out what did I do wrong.
If you take a look at my Categories, you will see that the Blogging category is more populated than the others. That’s because I begin to like to write about blogging and everything related and I think I’ll focuse on these kind of articles. Even my articles are still inexpertly (at least that’s how I see them) I think that some practice and perseverance will help me. I know that there are many (too many) articles blogging related, but I still discover that there are many unknown and obscure things for many bloggers, so I think if I understand them, why not to share with my readers?
I want to mention some blogs/bloggers from where I’ve learned a lot about blogging and, in my opinion, those blogs should be considered the ABC of blogging for every person who starts a blog.
1. Skelliewag.org written by Skellie, is by far the blog from where I’ve learned from every single post. It’s a blog about creating better content. It’s 100% ad and affiliate free and I can add that it is “paid review” free. Skellie’s articles are easy to understand since she includes examples as well. In that blog even the comments are like little posts and a newbie can learn a lot from the comments, too. You can find her best articles (though I think all her articles are great) in the best of Skelliewag in 2007. Skellie also write as guest for other blogs, like ProBlogger and Daily Blog Tips.
2. Problogger is written mostly by Darren Rowse, but you will find a lot of great guest posts too. There are a lot of tips about blogging, making money online, search engine optimization, writing and much more. The articles are easy to read and understand. One month ago I’ve found out that he runs another blog, too, Digital Photography School, another great blog with a lot of valuable posts. I just wonder: does he ever sleep?
3. Daily Blog Tips are written by a team, but I like especially Daniel Scocco’s posts. He writes a lot of blogging tips, resources and links to make your blog better. If you are new to blogging (and even if you aren’t), you will find here a lot of answers to your questions. It really worth to read this blog.
4. DoshDosh written by Maki (who I’ve just read in his About page that he is a guy and not a girl - sorry Maki, I was fooled by your anime girls from your blog
) is a blog about professional blogging and making money online. There are very interesting articles, very well written and containing a lot of resources, including links to other articles or to forums discussions. Most of the articles are very long, so you must to have some patient to read them entirely.
5. JohnTP is written by JohnTP, of course, who was born on a 13 day. Lucky man!
I’ve found his blog recently, but I’ve learned a lot from his articles. The blog is about blogging and making money online, but you will find also articles about SEO, tutorials, and much more. You will find many useful tips to improve your blog, so check it out.
There are also other great blogs about blogging I’ve read, but from several days I’m stuck on these five
Please leave a comment and share with me/us which blog do you read most. It doesn’t necessarily to be a blogging blog. I think that if we share each other our favorite’s blogs, we can build a huge resource with worth reading blogs. This is the best thing about blogging, except making friends, that many bloggers writes about what they know best and a huge amount of knowledge are floating through the internet, just waiting for us to discover
What blogs do you like more? From which blog you consider you have learned a lot?

I’ve been to doshdosh (I also thought the owner is a lady), JohnTP and problogger…but I haven’t been there lately…even though I’m not in your top 5 but I’m still you top commenter..
nimrodjo’s last blog post..RSSHugger To You
The list u have given.., I’m sure that most of the people will find their favourite(s) in that list.!
- Keep blogging !
@nimrodjo: I’ve said “blogs about blogging I like most”, not “blogs I like most”
. But what blog do you like most and read often? It doesn’t need to be from my list. I don’t think these five are the only favorite’s blog
@Beautiful Minds: I’m sure too. But I’m also sure that these are not the only favorite’s blog. I think people read other blogs, either, not only blogging related.
Diana, I actually visit all these blogs, too, but favor Daniel Scocco. He (with guest writers?) runs 3 blogs and I find each one very interesting.
I also read http://www.bloggingtips.com with multiple authors from different blogs.
One more: http://www.quickonlinetips.com
And one more: http://www.joostdevalk.nl about blogging and plugins, etc..
I like reading your blog, because you always seem to know what I, newbie, need and it’s less technical. Thanks.
I read all the blogs you mentioned, but not on a regular basis. I like JohnTP very much. And Skellie. She is one of the few people who actually are doing what they preach. I’ve met her in the Authority Blogger Forum when her blog was brand new, and I can tell you that she made herself noticed by working hard and wise.
My regular reads (from the blogs about blogging… but not only) are http://inspirationbit.com , http://fresh-perspectives.net , and I’ve just discovered http://epiblogger.net , which is about 10 days new, but I like their writing style.
Not about blogging, but very interesting and thoughtful is http://www.etresoi.ch/Denis/ a blog written by Denis Jones, about the philosophy of life.
Plus, I read your blog regularily, so this makes a sort of top 5
Simonne’s last blog post..Martin Dingman Mens Shoes & Marketing
I used to visit Maki’s blog: http://www.doshdosh.com before I have my own blog. I think he is a Blogging Guru.
and I love how Vivien of http://www.inspirationbit.com write articles based on a research method, with deep explanation.
But recently, from your blog carnival post, I found Vandelay Website Design, and I like how the author reveal many of SEO tricks to improve a blog performance.
I never heard John TP and Skelliewag before. I shall visit them later, and thank you for introducing those websites Diana
A u d e e’s last blog post..Fantasy Floral Photoshop Brushes - Part 3
thanks for the link - and yes I do sleep - occasionally.
I have much familiar with Daily blog tips and Dosh Dosh website and to my surprise you provided some other useful blogs. I thank you for sharing these wealth.
I wish you a Happy New Year.
Skellie and Problogger have always influenced my blogging, since i first read them and Maki is always a pleasure to read.
Tibi Puiu’s last blog post..10 Ways to Attract New Readers to Your Blog
Well, the way I see it, everybody likes to read popular blogs! Or are THEY contributing to their popularity?
pelf’s last blog post..USM goes green (and a poll)!
Aww.. Your Commentluv isn’t pulling my latest feed. Again.
As far as blogging tips go, it’s virtually impossible to write tips that haven’t already been written. That’s why I don’t read any popular blogs, I’ve read enough to know that I’ve been there and read that. By avoiding reading popular blogs, it helps me keep my content highly original…I get all my inspiration from low ranked blogs…after all, they need links the most!
Bobby Revell’s last blog post..How To Provide Traffic For Others
Instead of regularly visits those sites, I might have subscribe their RSS. It save time to browse all the content one by one instead of going to the site.
They just love popularity
Commenting in those blogs didn’t affect me, though.
Firewalker’s last blog post..I Killed The Funny UST Scandal Virus
@Lana: Thanks for sharing your favorite’s blogs. I find them quite interesting, so I’ve added them to my RSS reader. And thanks for reading my blog. I know what you need because I’m still a newbie, too and I write about things as I understand them.
@Simonne: Thanks for adding my blog in your top
Your favorite’s blogs are very interesting and inspiring
I’ve added them to my RSS reader, too. Though I must admit that I’ve visited Pearl’s blog before, just omitted to add to my RSS. Shame on me
@Audee: I like Vandelay Design and I read it on a regular basis. I’m glad my posts have helped you to find new blogs
And I think this post in particular will help new bloggers to find great blogs all together.
I agreed with Bobby’s opinion…we need to support our fellow blogger that have low traffic…btw, u asked me…what blog do i like most…I prefer personal blog, especially family blog…I do visit big blogs but only to get inspiration or read their long tutorial for guidance..
…but what count most is actually the sincerity of you blog commenter..I really appreciate mine…
nimrodjo’s last blog post..RSSHugger To You
@Darren:
I like your blogs very much, and I’ll intend to be active in your photography forum as well, since I’ve bought a new camera about a month ago and I’ve became addicted by photography.
@Investor: I’m glad this post helped you. You will find a lot of useful information in there.
@Tibi Puiu: I hope I’m not influenced by all these blogs/bloggers. I just want to extract as much informations I can and to find my own style. But of course, since I’m still a newbie as a writer (I’ve never did this before this blog) probably I’m influenced by them.
@pelf: I think popular blogs are so popular because of the blogger’s ability to write about interesting and trendy subjects and because of their writing style.
I don’t now why CommentLuv is doing this to you. I should ask Andy why is that. I’ve added your latest post manually.
@Bobby: I agree with you that reading popular blogs could influence a bloggers writing style. And indeed, there are a lot of blogging tips, but because I’m still new to blogging, I’m addicted to them

I’d like you to share some low ranking blogs that you like most. Maybe we give them some links, too
@Firewalker: Of course I’ve added all the blogs I like to my RSS reader and I visit them only if I want to comment on their posts. I have a big list of blogs on my reader and this save me a lot of time. We all love popularity. We are humans, after all
@nimrodjo: I must admit that I haven’t visited too many family blogs, but I like those blogs where I find articles about popular habits, popular clothes, foods, songs and other things specific to other countries. You had some kind of posts
All good blogs. Personal favorites are Dosh, and Problogger
A Blog about Nothing’s last blog post..How to get a free computer

Hawksdomain’s last blog post..The Gratitude Campaign
I’ll have to agree I like JohnChow, ProBlogger, ZenHabits (you can really apply it to blogging) and a few others. These are my top3.
Alex
Alex Ion’s last blog post..Happy New Year 2008
I think for a new blogger, many popular blogs are a good resource to learn from. We all reach a level in our blogging lives where we’ve learned that all these big blogs are rehashing the same info over and over…thus we decide what we truly are in the blogosphere. Losing my home and everything I owned in hurricane Katrina made me realize that money is on the bottom of my list when it comes to life. Any money I earn blogging beyond paying for my hosting service goes to feed starving children
I hope you have a meaningful blogging journey!!!!!
Bobby Revell’s last blog post..How To Provide Traffic For Others
@Stephan Miller: Thanks for sharing. I like your favorites and I’ve subscribed them.
@robert bourne: I’m glad you find this post useful. You didn’t share with us your favorites, though
@Dan: You know you have raised my ego, don’t you?
Your blog isn’t much younger than mine, I’ve started my blog on September 13th
So maybe we learn one from each other.
@Tay: Thanks for your appreciation. Don’t you want to share your favorites with us, too?
@pearl: Thanks for sharing. Now I like some of these blogs, too
@Hawksdomain: I’m glad you like it. Yes, Skellie has very useful articles for a new (and not so new) blogger.
@Alex Ion: ZenHabits seems to be very interesting. I’ll read it’s posts very soon. Thanks for sharing.
@Bobby: I’m sorry to hear about you and Katrina. I saw on TV, it was terrible
Yes, I suppose when you go through something like that, money and material life become less important.
Though, I like you to share with us some of the blogs you like most.
